One of the researchers Friedrich C Luft from Delbruck Center for Molecular Medicine in Germany, said, "It's not solely a waste product, as has been assumed." 

Mostly, daily household meals do not contain that much salt but the same can't be said about other foods like pickles, sauces, chutneys, bakery products, soda drinks, canned juices, and processed foods and snacks.
